A Celebration of Cultures Through Clothing

A Celebration of Cultures through Clothing.

A week ago, 26-year-old musician Nick Jonas and 36-year-old actress Priyanka Chopra, made their love official through a wedding which lasted a week. The traditional pre-wedding Hindu ceremonies were held on Friday and their marriage was made official on Saturday at a Western, Christian ceremony officiated by the groom's father and pastor, Kevin Jonas Sr. The wedding was held at the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.

Throughout these festivities the bride and groom wore traditional Indian garb. The bride-to-be wore a beautiful Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Couture. The immense pop of colour was a great symbol for the immensely happy atmosphere at these festivities. Nick was dressed in a traditional Hindu, made of aqua Banarasi cotton Bakhiya kurta, embellished in fine thread work embroidery made in various stitches. The burst of colour present in the bride's outfit and the groom's aqua was a perfect balance. All guests, both from the groom and the bride's side, wore traditional gowns and suits.

One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other's faiths and cultures and so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing. An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed.

The bride and groom made this statement on an Instagram post that they posted.  This piece of news was the perfect way to show people that fashion is a very prominent way to symbolise culture.
