Balenciaga as Michelle Obama's Fashion Freedom

Balenciaga as Michelle Obama's Fashion Freedom

Balenciaga is globally known as a luxury fashion brand specialising in odd and feminine yet modernistic silhouettes. Today this brand has become the new 'Gucci', that artists rap and sing about in popular singles. Despite this, the brand has not lost its reputation as a high-end luxury brand. This can be confirmed with the outfit worn by the former first lady, Michelle Obama, at the Brooklyn Barclays Centre whilst on tour promoting her new book.

The thigh-high Balenciaga disco boots she chose with the help of her stylist Meredith Koop, were show-stopping, especially paired with the yellow silk Balenciaga dress with knotted waist detail belonging to the 2019 Spring line. This particular outfit was the "piece de resistance of the tour so far". The side-split detail in the dress gave the thigh-highs their time to shine whilst she was sitting down. She sure proved that these boots "were not made for walking, but strutting into 2019".

This outfit was a reminder to the public that she is now released from all duties of her previous position as First Lady, which included fashion restrictions, and is now free to wear whatever she wants. Balenciaga was surely the way to go about making this statement in order to show the public her personal style.
Now I'm free to do whatever, she told Parker, adding that there was no real message behind the £2,935 boots. They were just really cute she explained and I was like, those some nice boots!
As a personal lover of Balenciaga myself, I am glad that she chose this brand to promote her personal style. Not only did she look young herself whilst wearing the outfit, but she also related with the young masses who dream of owning a pair of Balenciaga shoes themselves.
